As a midwife and a mum of 3, I have seen first-hand from both sides of birth, the ways that this collection of tools, knowledge, and resources has such a transformative impact on the experiences that go hand-in-hand with pregnancy.

For me, my first birth was the gateway to the incredible experiences that followed with the next two. I learnt a lot about decision-making and most importantly, I gained confidence in my body. I knew I could do it and I knew that I was right to trust my instincts. I want to help everyone achieve that feeling. Achieving a positive birth experience, whatever that may look like for you, can instil confidence in yourself and your body, which has an extraordinary knock-on effect on every other aspect of your life.

If we don’t inspire ourselves to have confidence in our minds and our bodies, how will we grow and develop to achieve more in our next birth experience? Or our life goals? Or to instil confidence in our babies as they grow up?

As I navigated my own birth journeys, I began to curate a toolkit that further built my knowledge and confidence and that gave me coping strategies, a calming environment for birth and a positive effect on my mindset. I realised this knowledge and toolkit was helping my friends, family and neighbours to reach the same level of understanding and confidence throughout their birth journeys, and I thought about how this recipe could (and should!) become more widespread.

Your first birth is so important, it’s the experience that will instil all of these feelings for you to build on. But what if your first (or any previous) birth journey felt negative, traumatic or disorienting? You may lack confidence or have lost trust in your body through your experiences. Your Yuula toolkit can guide you to rebuild belief in your mind and your body, to shift your mindset away from fear and to take control of your journey and inspire your own birth revolution™ for next time, or perhaps even the time after that!

The evidence highlights a link between midwives and their own positive birth outcomes. ‘It is possible that professional experience, insider knowledge, and existing relationships with other midwifery friends and colleagues, affords midwives a higher degree of agency and autonomy when it comes to getting the maternity care and birth outcomes that they want.’

Well, I want to capture that notion and make it accessible to everyone.

I believe that knowledge is power and I am so excited to share with you this toolkit and invite you to be a part of our wonderful community that I hope will inspire a movement of people from all walks of life to join the birth revolution™.
