If you have an episiotomy or any natural tears that are sutured ask your midwife to check them on each postnatal visit to spot early signs of infection, this area is high risk for infection, to prevent this wash hands regularly, change pads frequently to avoid the area becoming damp, rinse your intimate area after each toilet visit and after a bowel movement. Focus on nutrition preventing consitpation and drink plenty of water. Finally for therapeutic healing use a sitz bath once a day 10 mins, natural salt, lavender and tea tree works well. And signs of infection alert your midwife asap.
